So, for your History class, you've been asked to write an essay about the Middle East Conflict. How on earth do you do that? Here's how.
Get clued up. Seriously, if you know nothing about current affairs in the Middle East, you need to go online or listen to the news. See below for some online newspapers and news channels.
Get an Arab perspective first-hand , the biggest English language Arab media organisation is Al Jazeera.
Read books such as A Peace to End All Peace: The Fall of the Ottoman Empire and the Creation of the Modern Middle East by David Fromkin.
Plan. Always plan first. If you start your essay without knowing where to begin, you'll get stuck fast. If there is a set format, follow that carefully. If not, ask your teacher to help you.
Write. Now you can write your essay.
Review. Always check your essay as you go through. If you think you could word some of it better, or you think you've misspelled a word, check it out! Always do a spell check before you print it off. This prevents you having to type it out again.
Warnings
- Don't lift stuff straight off the Internet. The websites shown here are for current affairs only.
- Don't write the history of the Middle East Conflict. There will probably be a question to answer, and unless it asks you for the history, don't give it.
